Auto Emergency Kit - A well-stocked auto emergency kit is a traveling must. Invest in a basic tool kit and a warm blanket to keep in your trunk. Then get three bags. Fill one with a flashlight and batteries, writing paper and a pen, a “help” sign, and some road flares. Fill another with jumper cables, duct tap, a tire inflation spray can, and extra oil and antifreeze.
First Aid Kit - Having a basic first aid kit in your car is a vacation must. At the very least, you’ll need aspirin or another pain reliever, antiseptic ointment, bandages, and bandage tape. Bring your medical plan identification cards, your doctor’s name and phone number written on a small card, prescription information, and, if you wear them, a spare pair of glasses. You’ll be as ready as can be if you have a problem.
Vehicle Safety Check - Take a moment to have a qualified professional give your car a safety check a day or two before you hit the road for your trip. The few bucks this will cost are nothing next to the inconvenience of dealing with a time-consuming problem while traveling. And just before it’s time to leave, check your tire pressure.
